A Texan judge prohibited Microsoft from selling in the U.S. the Word program, considering that it violates a patent the company's Canadian i4i.

The patent relates to a feature of XML included in some versions of word processor, which according to the Canadian company violates its patented a technology in 1998.

The judge's decision means that Microsoft will stop selling the program within 60 days, time which the multinational is considered short and trying to halt the process with the use, to remove the function concerned.

On appeal, quoted by CNET News portal, Microsoft argues that "is spending an enormous human and financial capital to meet the deadline imposed by the court.

The company complaint is that this decision may leave the Word and Office suite out of the market for several months, even claiming that both Microsoft and its distributors may suffer a "massive fall in sales.
