Shortly after he appeared lying on his bed motionless, which led some of the participants in the conversation thinking that he had even carried out his plan.

Some users decided to alert the authorities that tried to identify Joseph Shepherd through the images and to prevent its death. The searches involved the authorities in Wales and the state of New York and the Interpol, which identified his identity through the IP address of Shepherd.

When the authorities reached the house and saw that he was well, the New York police arrested him. Joseph Shepherd will now be taken to court by the end of the month where it will be accused of reporting a false incident.
