Imagine a processor 10 to 20 times more powerful than the fastest chip already in place and using the same amount of power two light bulbs in households.

That's what Intel promises to introduce a new microprocessor core 48. The focus is on cloud computing and data centers, with energy saving. The company says the new processor is designed to have high-speed and new techniques for power management, allowing operations to 25 watts or 125 watts.

"With such a processor, you can imagine a data center in the clouds for a future that is more energy efficient than today," said Chief Technology Officer of the company, Justin Rattner, told Computerworld.

The company's forecasts are optimistic. Intel said it is distributing 100 processors experimental 48-core to attract academics and specialists from other companies to develop the component and start the program compatible software.

"Over time, we hope that these advanced concepts are a way to come into popular devices, as well as advanced automotive technology found a way to get into all the cars," he predicts Rattner.

For nearly two years, Intel had shown an experimental chip with 80 cores that, although not functional, he served for the company to study ways to enable efficient communication between a large number of cores.

The alternative to Internet Explorer developed under the Mozilla Foundation is celebrating five years of life. Firefox is an open source product that includes the development efforts of a community of programmers and over the years has managed to assert itself as an alternative, in fact, the IE from Microsoft that at the time that Firefox was released dominated about 95 percent of the market.

Today, Firefox has around 330 million users, which gives it a market share close to 25 percent. It's currently in version 3.5 and on the way to a renewal, the foundation will ensure faster than the last, narrowing the time intervals which have hitherto separate the various releases. This range was up to now about a year.

Chris Blizzard, Mozilla Corp., said the purpose of the anniversary that over the past five years the Foundation has focused on the following five years. "The Web is faster and no slower and modern browsers should be prepared to work in view of that fact."

Mozilla also highlights the major changes in the five years of existence of Firefox, with competition in the browser market to grow strongly, thanks to the entry of new players.

Some names to remember in this area are those of the Opera - as well as a mobile version of the product with the same name - or Google, which launched the Chrome. Very little media coverage but still effective in terms of membership of users. Oldest is the alternative to Apple via the Safari, which controls 4.4 percent of the market.

The birth of Firefox took place on November 9, 2004. Four days after being launched as one million users had downloaded.

Intel is being accused by prosecutors in New York to monopolize the worldwide market for microprocessors by threats and coercion.

In the complaint submitted to the U.S. authorities consider that the manufacturer may have abused its dominant position to hinder the free competition in violation for years antomonopólio federal laws to "strangle" the market by signing agreements with major computer makers like Dell and Hewlett Packard for the exclusive use of their chips in exchange for billions of dollars. "

"Rather than compete fairly, Intel resorted to bribery and coercion to maintain its total market dominance," said Attorney General Andrew Cuomo was quoted by international media, adding that the company threatened to and actually , punished the computer manufacturers that worked with their rivals. "

According to the prosecutor, the Intel "not only restricted the presence of potential competitors, such as impaired consumers, depriving them of better products and lower prices."

In his complaint, the prosecution calls an end to anti-competitive practices by Intel and compensation for damage caused.

This is not the first time that the number of processors is accused of abuse of dominant position. The same monopolistic practices have led to the record fine of 1.06 billion euros imposed by the European Commission in May this year.

A South African company's information technology announced this week that has proven to be faster to transfer data with the help of a pigeon to send them across the network of Telkom, the largest Internet company in the country.

Speed Internet connectivity and the largest economy in Africa are low because of lack of bandwidth, which is also expensive.

A local news agency SAPA reported that a pigeon 11 months old, Winston, took one hour and eight minutes to fly 80 kilometers from the offices of IT Unlimited, near Pietermaritzburg, to the coastal city of Durban with a memory card tied in one of the legs.

Including download the data, it took two hours, six minutes and 57 seconds for only four percent of the same data to be transferred with a line of Telkom.

The SAPA reported that the IT Unlimited decided to do the "test" after the officials frustrated with the slow Internet connection.

The company has 11 service centers to customers in the country and usually needs to transfer data to its other units.

The speed Internet in the region must improve so that a new submarine cable fiber optics of 17 thousand kilometers long, linking the southern and eastern Africa to other networks, to become operational before the opening World Cup in South Africa Africa, in 2010.

About Wine

Wine is a translation layer (a program loader) capable of running Windows applications on Linux and other POSIX compatible operating systems. Windows programs running in Wine act as native programs would, running without the performance or memory usage penalties of an emulator, with a similar look and feel to other applications on your desktop.

The Wine project started in 1993 as a way to support running Windows 3.1 programs on Linux. Bob Amstadt was the original coordinator, but turned it over fairly early on to Alexandre Julliard, who has run it ever since. Over the years, ports for other Unixes have been added, along with support for Win32 as Win32 applications became popular.

Wine 1.0.1 was released recently, and our developers are currently working towards a Wine 1.2 release. There are bugs and missing features, but many people find Wine useful in running a growing number of Windows programs.

Wine Benefits

Last but not least, Wine can provide benefits over Windows right now:

  • Wine makes it possible to take advantage of all the Unix strong points (stability, flexibility, remote administration) while still using the Windows applications you depend on.
  • Unix has always made it possible to write powerful scripts. Wine makes it possible to call Windows applications from scripts that can also leverage the Unix environment to its full extent.
  • Wine makes it possible to access Windows applications remotely, even if they are a few thousand miles away.
  • Wine makes it economical to use thin clients: simply install Wine on a Linux server, and voila, you can access these Windows applications from any X terminal.
  • Wine can also be used to make existing Windows applications available on the Web by using VNC and its Java client.
  • Wine is Open Source Software, so you can extend it to suit your needs or have one of many companies do it for you.

You can see in the web: Wine

In 1995 comes the DVD (Digital Versatile Disc) and now we have the advent of Blu-Ray has 25GB capacity per layer.

It was in late 80s that the invention of James T. Russel, 1965, the Compact Disc has had an application on Computers with CD-ROM

It was in 1971 that IBM introduced the first floppy disk, invented by a team led by Alan Shugart. The name inherited due to its characteristics of flexibility. Had eight inches and the information was written and read from the surface of the disc.

Although many of the owners of a PS3 on the shelf have many PS2 games, Sony decided not to include them in the list of support of the new PS3 Slim.

The new console will not have support for the Linux operating system, which was always present in earlier versions of 60, 20, 40 and 80GB.

The justification for Sony is the fact that the company want to unify and its massive operating system, the XMB. This would not install another OS on the PS3 and play the classic Slim PS2 games.

On August 27 a new system of verification of content at The Pirate Bay will allow the copyright holders identify their content and choose one of two hypotheses. In 18, September the edition of the magazine Entertainment Weekly will include video ads, with sound included. For this, one of the pages of the magazine will include a small screen, very thin and able to store about 40 minutes of video, the user can control how and when you see, through a panel with buttons.

These ads will be activated whenever you turn the page. The advertising has been purchased by the channel of the American CBS television, which will announce the series of the night to pass on Monday during the next television season, which begins in September. However, these new ads are only available in certain editions of the magazine.

In 1970 the Xerox Corporation has developed a local coaxial network that supported data transfers at a speed of 3Mbps. So far the connections were very slow.

MORE AND BETTER SUPPORT FOR HARDWARE

Windows 7 is able to distinguish a conventional hard disk of a recent SSD (Solid State Drive - disks with flash memory, much faster to boot and that consume less energy). This will cause this kind of support can be better used by the system.
There is a new menu to deal with the peripherals that are connected to Windows 7. The Devices and Printers lists the equipment connected to each moment. And easily, right-clicking on the icon that represents, you can interact with it. It is important to note that this new menu does not replace the manager of devices that still exists in the System menu in the Control Panel. It is just a faster and easier access to external hardware that is connected to the system. This will pleasing, especially to the less advanced users.

Windows 7 in Notebooks:

According to the magazine Exame Informática, Windows 7 is so light that even in a notebook can be installed. They tried and succeeded, working with Windows 7 almost as fast as Windows XP.

WMP12: GREATER SUPPORT FOR VIDEO FORMATS :

Windows Media Player 12 (WMP12) was very fresh. One of the big news is a mode of reproduction and the other library. A small button placed on the bottom, right, allows you to navigate between the two. It is best support for video formats. For the first time, Microsoft natively supports formats other than their own. Thus, the popular DivX / XviD, MPEG4 (H.246) are played without difficulty.
Taking advantage of the technology created for homegroups the WMP12 do streaming of files stored on other computers within the same group. It is also possible to control peripheral devices that are connected in that network.

WORK IN NETWORK:

For anyone who is working on a home network, there is a new way to simplify the creation of groups. These are designed to simplify the sharing of files between authorized members of the network / group. You can access it from the Control Panel or from the Network and Sharing Center. Then you can just create the homegroup for all existing computers in your home can share the data. Something much simpler the process that existed in Vista.
Also in the Network and Sharing Center, emphasize the fact that the management of wireless networks is a little different. Now, when you click to look at the available networks, there is a popup menu and can connect to the network selected by pressing a new button Connect. Again, the process is simplified.

Goodbye, Windows Sidebar:

Yes, true. The Windows Sidebar disappeared in Windows 7. This does not mean that no longer exist gadgets. Simply press the right mouse button on the desktop to access the menu.

The gadgets are aligned right. You can drag them to where they want. The difference is that there is even a bar placed behind.

EXPLORER was more SIMPLE

Visually, the browser in Windows Explorer 7, is an experience more reassuring to look. There is only one color to the areas where we are, but the features are presented practically the same. The novelty is that an icon will appear to create a new folder, and is no longer necessary to make two or three clicks to create it.
There are also new options for the display of folders. Now, there is a button called Contents. By opting for this view, will be presented with the name of the file that is inside that folder and, for example, if a picture, apart from size is also the resolution. Another novelty is that, at the bottom, where is the description of the disk or folder that we see is the information if the system is BitLocker, or not in operation.

The integrated circuit, also known as the microchip was invented by Jack Kilby of Texas Instruments in 1958.
It was the chip that opened the doors to the miniaturization of components and allowed us to move the computers that occupied a room for the existing PC.

Board system less confusing:

Many users complains of having the system tray full of icons. Microsoft has listened to these complaints, and now Windows 7 carries only by definition, five icons.
The icons shown are: Language, Action Center, Network and Sound
But do not think that in spite of these icons only appear that the other programs are not working. Just click the right mouse button on the system tray and select customize notification icons to access a dialog box where you can set the behavior of programs that are working in the background. For example, if you want the antivirus icon appears in the system tray you just select it from the list of applications and choose the option Show icon and notifications.

Customization:

Windows 7 has a new menu of customization. Rather than being presented a list with all options, Windows 7 emphasizes the themes, and below the large box, there are options for changing the background, the color of the window, the sounds and the screen saver.
In part, the text menus are allowing access to change the icons of the mouse pointer and the image associated with the user account.

FASTER INSTALLATION:
Microsoft has reduced the number of tables that require the intervention of utilizador.Programas as the Messenger, Photo Gallery and Movie Maker are now offered as a download optional package within the Windows Live Essentials.
Now, there is also the possibility of creating Workgroups, define the word-pass giving access to that group and set which folders and printers you want to share.

NEW TASK BAR:

In visual terms, is more transparent, the start button is associated with brightness, the shortcuts have a small shadow. As part of the board system has a new button that lets hide all open applications and show the desktop.

In terms of features, the main changes there are shortcuts to the applications. Contrary to what happened, are now provided shortcuts to the programs most used, and for those who are open at this time.

Another of the novelties is a preview of the programs that are open on the taskbar. Now, just move the mouse over to a small window appears to show the application.

Before appear the graphics cards only the processor processing the information. First one was 2D graphics cards, but only in 1997 the company 3Dfx presented that would be the standard for 3D graphics card: the Voodoo graphics chip.

In 1947, Walter H. Brattain, William Shockley e John Bardeen created the first transistors. Which led to the idea to create chips for use in the PC.

The news is given by the site IntoMobile and has the potential to create a wave of criticism directed at the Palm.
The new smartphone from Palm seems to collect information on various types of user behavior in relation to applications and used the same geographical location.

There is code in the operating system that requires a Pre collect information on the location of the smartphone, use of applications, applications that block and a list of installed applications. This information is sent to the Palm on a daily basis.

The discovery was made by Joey Hess, developer of Debian, which operated the operating system when webOS noticed that there was information to be sent to Palm once a day.

The Palm reacted to the news, saying it takes "the privacy of users very seriously, and offers ways to disable the services for the collection of information.

The European Commission (EC) announced this Tuesday that in 2010 will invest 18 million euros in the fourth generation (4G) mobile networks, which will increase to one hundred times the current speed of the third generation of mobile Internet, the Lusa news .

The LTE is the latest wireless technology, providing mobile Internet speeds up to 100 megabits per second, ten times higher than the third generation mobile networks.

The HD version of the Zune is seen by many analysts as the latest attempt by Microsoft to try to dethrone the iPod media player as the market leader.

Therefore some consider that the price will fall to try to affect the sales of Apple for the Zune.

The Street View in the cities of Lisbon and Porto was yesterday launched by Google. The application allows, in conjunction with Google Maps, go to these cities pictures taken at street level.

Most of the faces of people and registrations of vehicles that appear in the application are blurred, not to violate the privacy. However, with only 24 hours of availability to the public the most recent update of the implementation of Google, we found several examples of images that are clearly expensive and registrations of people - without being blurred - in Lisbon.

Google explains that its software is not infallible and that such cases can happen. Therefore, a link at the bottom left of each image, so users can report a problem, particularly concerning the violation of privacy. Some of the images is possible to identify people in a neighborhood of the capital much frequented by addicts, some plates visible in several places in Lisbon, or even workers and passersby without the blurred face.

According to the release of Google, Street View "only contains images gathered on public areas." "We respect the fact that people might not like that some images are available on this service. Therefore, we offer simple tools and easy to use to identify and remove inappropriate images or images sensitive", refer to the company.

If a user wants to report certain image, you only need click the corresponding link which opens a form for the complaint. Google says that the image will be removed after the complaint and, if deemed inappropriate or sensitive is removed permanently.

Google also informed that during the preparation of the project in Portuguese cities - in the coming months should be available new locations, including Águeda, Barcelos, Évora, Alverca do Ribatejo, Amadora, Portalegre, Maia, Paredes, Rebordosa, São Salvador do Lordelo, Barreiro and Costa de Caparica - the work was done with the knowledge of the National Commission for Data Protection.

SCREENS ARE MAGNETS FOR EVERYONE'S EYES

Beware of anyone who says that they're "just going to talk to some slides" - because that's exactly what they'll do - without realising that they're spending most of their time with their backs to the audience.
Yet eye contact plays such a fundamental part in holding an audience's attention.
So remember that the more slides you have and the more there is on each slide, the more distracting it will it be for the audience - where as the fewer and simpler the slides are, the easier it will be to keep them listening.

READING AND LISTENING DISTRACTS AUDIENCES

If there's nothing but text on the screen, people will try to read and listen at the same time - and won't succeed in doing either very well.

If the print is too small to read, they'll get irritated at being expected to do the impossible. Nor does it help when speakers say "as you can see", or the equally annoying "you probably won't be able to read this".

SLIDES SHOULDN'T JUST BE NOTES

Few speakers are willing to open their mouths until they have their first slide safely in place. But all too often the slides are verbal crutches for the speaker, not visual aids for the audience.

Projecting one slide after another might make it look as though you've prepared the presentation. But if you haven't planned exactly what you're going to say, you'll have to ad lib and, if you start rambling, the audience will switch off.

To avoid this requires careful planning. Do this before thinking about slides and you won't need as many of them - and the ones that you do decide to use are more likely to help to clarify things for the audience, rather than just remind you of what to say next.

INFORMATION OVERLOAD

You think bullet points make information more digestible? Think again. A dozen slides with five bullet points on each assumes that people are mentally capable of taking in a list of 60 points. If it's a 30-minute presentation, that's a rate of two-per-minute.

This highlights the biggest problem with slide-based presentations, which is that speakers mistakenly think that they can get far more information across than is actually possible in a presentation. At the heart of this is a widespread failure to appreciate that speaking and listening are fundamentally different from writing and reading.

In fact, the invention of writing was arguably the most important landmark in the history of information technology. Before writing, the amount of information that could be passed on to others was severely limited by what could be communicated in purely oral form (ie not much). But the ability to write meant that vast amounts of knowledge could be communicated at previously unimagined levels of detail.

The trouble is that PowerPoint makes it so easy to put detailed written and numerical information on slides that it leads presenters into the mistaken belief that all the detail will be successfully transmitted through the air into the brains of the audience.

THE BULLET POINT PROBLEM

A Microsoft executive recently said that one of the best PowerPoint presentations he'd ever heard had no slides with bullet points on them. This didn't surprise me at all, because we've known for years that audiences don't much like wordy slides and don't find them as helpful as pictorial visual aids.

What does surprise me is that so many of the program's standard templates invite users to produce lists of bullet points, when the program's main benefits lie in the creation of images. If more presenters took advantage of that, inspiring PowerPoint presentations might become the norm, rather than the exception.

To make a 3D movie, we need two cameras, a video editor and 3D glasses. You need to be carefull because the slightest angle difference in the cameras will completely ruin the whole shot so make sure the lenses are level with one another.

After you record the film, make one of the videos (let's say the left camera's video) have a red overlay. Make the right camera's video have a blue overlay. The result should be the same video, twice, in two colors, three inches apart.
You need to place both videos into your editor, on top of each other, so you can see them both at once. The result should be almost purple and you should have a somewhat "double-vision" look to it.
Export this video, and play it, while wearing those Red-Blue 3D glasses and it should work. If not, you should try experimenting with the settings.
If need be, switch the colors to darker or lighter shades. Maybe even try changing the distance of the lenses.
Make sure you can "Place both videos on top of each other" with whatever "simple" editing software you have
When you editing these videos together, it also sometimes helps to remove the audio from one of the videos.

It is the only browser in the last ten years to make serious competition to Internet Explorer. Firefox, developed by the Mozilla Foundation, has already been downloaded one billion times.

Firefox came in 2004 and was gradually gaining users. Currently, controls about a third of the market for browsers - still far behind the leader Internet Explorer, Microsoft, which has a share of about 60 percent and which enjoys the advantage of coming pre-installed with Windows operating systems. The other users are divided almost all the Norwegian Opera, by Chrome (Google's) and Safari (Apple's).

In part because it undermined the empire of Microsoft and as an open-source application, Firefox has early earnest to create a community of users. The idea is from Pete, an employee of Google (the owner of YouTube), a company that encourages its employees to develop autonomous projects, that video player is a good example. The production of 3D video could be a new challenge for millions of Internet users around the world.

The first program that every developer in computer science needs to know is the emblematic “Hello world”. This program only return’s a String with “Hello World".

Then I will show you, the different “Hello World’s” that I already learned:

Haskell
olamundo :: IO()
olamundo = putStr "Hello World"

Java
public class Hello {
public static void main(String[] args) {
System.out.println("Hello World!");
}
}

Mips
hello_msg: .asciiz "Hello World!\n";
.text

main:
la $a0, hello_msg
li $v0, 4
syscall

li $v0, 10
syscall

C
#include

main(){
printf ("Hello World!\n");
}

Prolog
hello_world :- write('Hello World!').

Pascal
Program Hello World;
Uses crt;

Begin
Writeln('Hello World!');
End.

Visual Basic
MsgBox("Hello World!")
